Bali, the island of the gods

We’ve been vacationing in Bali for 2 months already and want to stay longer, but the time has come for us to fly to a nearby Southeast Asian country for a few days before we’re able to return to Bali. The little island province of Indonesia has won us over and we would stay indefinitely if we had our way. Having escaped the harshness of Vancouver, Canada with its wet winters and the dead-heartedness of the Karens and Kens in its community, we find ourselves basking in the warmth of not just the climate but the people and culture that make this place so special.

We’ve lived in many different places, experienced a variety of cultures, and have been educated in different parts of the world. As seasoned cruisers and vacationers, we know what makes a destination stand out, and Bali takes the cake. Having sought refuge before in San Marcos, Texas, during the so-called Covid 19 “Plandemic”, we bring a unique perspective to travel and community. Bali wins not just because of its stunning landscapes but because of the people, the genuine kindness of the Indonesians who live here and the vibrant international community that thrives on the island.

Bali is more than just an island; it’s a feeling, a way of life. From the daily offerings placed on every doorstep to the open-hearted smiles of the locals, there’s an energy here that’s hard to put into words. It’s a place where spirituality and modernity coexist, where expats and locals find common ground, and where every sunset reminds us why we chose to be here.

Bali is more than just an island; it’s a feeling, a way of life.

As we prepare to leave, we can’t help but feel a little resistance. Why leave when we’ve found a place that feels like home? But we know we’ll be back, because Bali isn’t just a destination; it’s a calling.

The Island of the Gods and the Seat of Self-Empowerment

Bali, often referred to as the “Island of the Gods,” is more than just a travel destination, it is a place of transformation, self-discovery, and empowerment. Every year, approximately 6.3 million tourists visit Bali, drawn by its breathtaking landscapes, rich culture, and spiritual energy. In contrast, the Philippines, with its 7,100+ islands and English-speaking population, receives only 5.5 million tourists a year. While language plays a role in accessibility, Bali’s appeal goes beyond words. The island communicates directly with the heart and soul. This unique energy makes it the perfect place for raising a family, starting a business, and even retiring early.

A Place for Self-Discovery and Sovereignty

Bali offers an environment where individuals can reconnect with themselves. Whether through yoga retreats in Ubud, serene beachside meditations, or the island’s deep-rooted spirituality, visitors often find a renewed sense of purpose and clarity. Unlike fast-paced urban environments where people feel disconnected from their essence, Bali provides a slower, more intentional way of living, one that encourages self-awareness, personal growth, and empowerment.

Financial Freedom and Quality of Life

One of the greatest advantages of Bali is how far one’s hard-earned money can go. The cost of living is significantly lower compared to Western countries, allowing for a high quality of life without financial strain. Luxurious villas, delicious organic food, and excellent services are accessible at a fraction of the cost in other parts of the world. More importantly, service providers in Bali are genuinely happy to serve, embodying a deep sense of gratitude and hospitality that enhances daily life.

A Geographical and Spiritual Haven

Bali is not only a paradise in terms of lifestyle but also in terms of safety. Geographically, it is protected by surrounding islands and countries, shielding it from major natural disasters. Unlike other parts of Southeast Asia which are prone to typhoons, tsunamis, or earthquakes, Bali enjoys a relatively stable climate with warm, tropical weather year-round.

The island’s deep-rooted spirituality is another defining aspect of its appeal. The Balinese people practice daily rituals, offering flowers and prayers to the spirits and unseen forces. This devotion creates a unique vibrational energy that can be felt throughout the island. Many who come to Bali experience a profound sense of peace, healing, and connection to something greater than themselves.

The Perfect Place to Call Home

For those seeking an alternative way of life, one that is abundant, meaningful, and free, Bali stands as the ideal place to settle. Whether raising a family, launching a business, or retiring early, the island provides an environment where dreams can be nurtured and realized.

Bali is not just a destination; it is a way of life, a sanctuary for those seeking self-empowerment and true sovereignty. It is, in every sense, another day in paradise.
